Thomas Y. H. W. Jensen is special advisor in the Danish Energy Agency (DEA). He divides his time between Centre for Global Cooperation and Centre for Renewables. Thomas joined the DEA January 2019 and is currently involved in analyzing, policy development, state aid and implementation of political decisions regarding renewable gasses in Denmark. In addition to his work in developing the national framework conditions for renewable gasses, Thomas is also responsible for DEA’s activities in the Biogas Go Global program.
From 2016-2018 Thomas was an international policy advisor at Energinet – The Danish Gas Transmission Operator – where he was responsible for analyzing policy and framework conditions as well as developing business models for renewable gasses. Through his areas of expertise Thomas was one of the driving forces enabling cross-border trade of guarantees of origin between Denmark and Germany and chair of the workgroup for EU regulation at the organization Gas Infrastructure Europe. From 2012-2016 Thomas was a project manager & development consultant at one of largest incinerator plants in Scandinavia. Thomas’ main task was to advise and implement recycling schemes for Danish municipalities as well as building and expanding the consultant branch through business development.
Thomas holds an MSc in Technological Socio-Economic Planning from Roskilde University specializing in the integration of renewable energy in developing countries. While studying Thomas held clerk positions in various environmental NGOs as well as a traineeship at the Danish Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
